Light in the darkness: IME = Input Method Editor
What is this Open IME thing that you see in all context menus in Tablet PC XP???
Open Notepad, right click in the pad. "Open IME" is in there. Try it on the desktop. Rename an icon, right click on the text "Open IME"
It does nothing. All I think it may be is left over code when they were planning on having it pop up an inking spot. Any ideas??
But the fact remains that Open IME does nothing. Wonder why it's there on Tablet PC and not standard windows.
Open IME only works if you have multiple input languages installed on your system. Normally a system would only have one input language, ie English.
But on systems with multiple languages installed, Open IME allows you to select the different language input methods. In the Tablet PC's sense it could be something like WritingPad for English, CHS For Simplified Chinese handwriting. etc. etc.
So how do we remove this? I just actually noticed this IME thing and I never installed a second language on my computer. This is strange. Any insight is welcome.
