I have the exact same problem occur sometimes, it seems like once it starts it keeps happening over and over during a one or two day period and then nothing for a couple of weeks. Once the lines appear if you click different items in outlook the lines move or change their location in the bottom section of the screen. Alot of times if I minimize outlook and then restore the lines are gone, but a couple of minutes later they come back.
I have Windows SP2 installed and all service packs and updates for Office installed. This computer has been formatted and every re-installed from scratch and the same thing afterwards.
I have the exact same problem. The problem is very consistent for me, it rarely "goes away". It appeared immediately after I installed XP SP2 on my __Gateway__ M275XL tablet convertible.
Hardware specs are Pentium M 1.8Ghz, 512MB ram, Intel Extreme 82852/82855 graphics with driver version 6.14.10.3619 running 1024x768x32bpp, Wacom OEM digitizer with standard Microsoft drivers version 5.1.2600.2180. Also, according to Windows Update and Office Update, I have every service pack and update available, and I have Gateway BIOS 48.02.02, which was the latest when I installed it about a month ago. Other software I invariably have running includes OneNote 2k3 SP1, Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.1, Lucent Modem-On-Hold applet (for Agere SoftModem, actualy), Task Manager, and that annoying Synaptics touchpad applet.
OK, four months later and I have finally tried another fix, without success. After going through and killing processess one by one, down to the core system processes, I never succeeded in eliminating the problem. If it is a conflict, it is internal to the system.
When I upgraded to the latest version of the Intel Extreme graphics driver, I had a display problem with Outlook as well. Not quite as bad as the pics above, but I was having lines which sort of 'showed through' from an open window below. It was extrememly irritating although I could have functioned with this. So I rolled back to the old graphics driver and things worked normally again. Till now, I've not wanted to upgrade the graphics driver, since it ain't broke.
