You know, I've learned to just admit defeat.

In trying to change the drive letters and convert the IMAGES partition to logical, the whole partition table got fouled up. Partition Magic won't repair it, so I'm just going to have to order the ACER drive in a couple of weeks.

Thank you all for your assistance. It was VERY much appreciated. Users such as yourselves are a true credit to these forums and to the community of Tablet users.

Gordon.

Hello Gordon,

Sorry to read of your difficulty.
Wishing you the best in the path that works best for you.

p.s. If you are daring (providing your HDD is not damaged),
using fdisk, you can create a new primary partition, an extended partition,
logical partition(s), and then go from there.

Gordon,

Sorry it didn't work out. Sometimes it's not meant to be...

Please update us once you've got your Acer cdrom and let us know how it turns out.

fdisk (from a Windows XP Install CD, rescue option) should be able to repair the partition table. If you get desperate, you could use a Linux live-CD to repair the partition table with fdisk or parted.
