Hi guys! I just got my Fujitsu T4010. Does anyone here know where I could buy a screen protector for its LCD?

Also, I got a Fujitsu Bag together with it (the one with the handle). It's rather big. Is there any case which has the exact fit for the laptop alone?

thanks

Footnote: The Fujitsu screen protectors APPEAR to be blue-tinted, but that is simply the front protective film. Once you have mounted the screen protector to the screen, be sure to peel the front blue film off.

The screen protector itself is clear, with a matte surface...!

Regarding more "form fitting" carrying cases, check the third-party vendors, like Lowepro and Targus. I actually went to CompUSA and found a really clever hard-shelled case by Case Logic. It's just a bit larger than my slate and one of the most streamlined cases I've yet seen...!

Also, as a general observation, the camera market has some very well-developed and diverse lines of camera bags. Those manufacturers have taken notice of notebook computers because of the boom in digital photography and so they are starting to design and sell computer bags. You might investigate them, as well...

Good luck.

I checked on my box again but can't find a single LCD protector. I didn't remember the salesperson telling me about it.

My recollection is that mine were in the same plastic bag that contained all the manuals (in the accessories box). However, I assume that you wouldn't miss such a thing during a dedicated search.

Accidents happen, and the next most likely possibility is that they were not included with your computer. Call Fujitsu and ask them for a replacement...

I have to say that I was told by a local reseller that they did not supply screen protectors with the T4010. Having said that I'm not sure if it's a Fujitsu standard practice to include screen protectors, if so it might have been sales person ignorance.... otherwise it might only be some resellers that offer the protectors.

Would it be possible for them to supply me with a replacement? I tried contacting the store from which I bought this but they are not replying.

I also did just now and they told me that they're not supplying any screen protector with the unit. If I wish to have some, I should order one from them. I'm not sure if this is their standard practice but I'm trying to contact their global support for this and ask if this is so. Anyway, i'll just update you regarding this. Thanks!

At risk of asking an already anwered question, how does the screen protector affect the quality of the display? Does it appear washed out, fuzzy, etc?

Also, how easy is it to apply to the screen? Does it leave a lot of air bubbles? Can it be removed and re-applied if something gets under it, or you're trying to remove bubbles? Is there a way to get the bubbles out besides pressing with your fingers?

Any additional info about it will be helpful. My T4010 will arrive next week (hopefully), and I'l be facing this task alone! Thanks!

<<how does the screen protector affect the quality of the display? Does it appear washed out, fuzzy, etc?>>

...It has very little actual impact on the display quality, IMO. The diffuse top surface finish (intended to reduce specular reflections (glare)) imparts an ever-so-slight haziness to the screen image, but there is no practical impact in terms of either sharpness or brightness. Because it has a finite thickness, it also contributes slightly to parallax, but again the effect is negligible. Balanced against the protection that it provides for the display, it's a more than adequate compromise...

<<Also, how easy is it to apply to the screen? Does it leave a lot of air bubbles? Can it be removed and re-applied if something gets under it?>>

...The application approach is actually quite clever. The adhesive is applied in only a thin strip around only the edge of the protector, so when you apply the protector, you only have to worry about sticking it to the bezel (frame) of the screen. And yes, if an edge is mis-aligned, you can (carefully!!) peel the protector back off and re-stick it. Finally, since the area that covers the actual screen has no adhesive, there are NO AIR BUBBLES. Hence, this is not an issue at all. One corner of the protector is left clear of the adhesive strip so that air can escape, and so that you can eventually peel the protector back off without undue inconvenience...

Thanks Steve!

The non-adhesive backed protector! Freaking brilliant! :D :D :D

I'm guessing Fujitsu has the patent on that one.

I really want to purchase the LCD screen protectors plus the keyboard skin for my T4010 but unfortunately, it's not available in our country and fujitsu does not ship outside the US. Is there any kind-hearted person here willing to make the purchase for me? I'll pay for everything...the shipping and all via money order or credit card. :D

You could try portableOne.com (http://www.laptopsinc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category;_Code=TSPT) They say they'll ship internationally, and they're pretty well thought of by the other folks here.... I would be tempted to buy a tablet from them but for the shipping and tax charges one gets importing.

But with a smaller less costly item like screen protectors it might be worth it. Especially if there is no one who will sell them locally.
