Rob posted yesterday about the chances to win a Tablet PC at the Windows Anywhere conference coming up in February. I'm curious, how many folks from here are planning to attend the conference? I know Rob is going, as well as a couple developers who are pretty active in the forum. I may be going, but as of yet have not decided for sure. So, who is planning to be there?

I'm going. I would suggest that all TEO customers go too since they're giving away MapPoint 2004 to attendees. That alone is worth going for. |

You may get MapPoint, but doesn't it cost a lot just to attend? $995 or something? |

Oh I didn't realize that was the cheapest registration. MS gave me a passport so I didn't look at the rates. But aside from just MapPoint there's about $1000 worth of software that they're giving. They list it on the web site http://msdn.microsoft.com/tabletpc |

Beware freebies. You may get a 1099 for tax purposes. The price of the software then becomes retail times your top marginal tax bracket.
I would love to go, but the schedule doesn't permit.
Ya'll have fun. |

I'll be there, assuming I don't forget to get flights or something. February used to seem a lot further away. |

Josh is right, there is $1000 worth of software being given away to those who attend Microsoft Windows Anywhere. The details are on the MSDN.microsoft.com/tabletpc.
If you can't make the whole conference, but are interested in learning to develop for the Tablet PC, you might also consider the pre- or post- conference workshops for $395.
There are also chances to win Tablet PCs on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. |

Because the $1000 software package is part of the registration package for those attendees that use the MSDN code, a 1099 is not required.
A 1099 is required for the end-of-session Tablet PC giveaways. |

Now you can get Exhibit Hall Only Pass for the conference. You can go through the hardware and software manufacturer booths during exhibit hours and morning keynotes. $25 per person. It's open to the public. |
