I just got my first tablet pc, the ST5022D, and love it! I noticed when I make a note recording in either OneNote or the MS sticky notess that all I get back is static and noise. I change the settings then to the fujitsu mic and I can now (sorta) hear my voice but not very load ( at the highest volume setting). The speaker works well for the Tablet tutorials so I don't think it is the speakers.

Any help for an new user would be great.

Thanks

I had the same experience! I too am awating replies. I ended up getting a headset to use with the Dragon, but would love to be able to use the array mikes.
edit; I just tried dictating with the array mikes and it works great. Playback may still be an issue.

I will give Fujitsu service a call about this issue. I will let you know what I get as an answer.

Until then. Anyone know of a good bluetooth microphone I can use?

Hi Benjamin: don't know how to help with your pb, but
I was wondering how the screen holds up outdoors. Could
you please provide some feedback on it, and if possible
post some outdoor pictures?

TIA, Tom

unfortunately, there is not a good Bluetooth microphone. Many people are very happy with the Sennheiser headset that can be found on E microphones. They use a USB pod and adapt the microphone to fit.

December issue of Laptop magazine had a review of Bluetooh headsets -- Belkin F8T061, Cardo Allways 2.1, Fellowes Body Glove Bluesport, Logitech Mobilve Bluetooh Headset, Jabra FreeSpeak BT250, and Plantronics M2500. The Plantronics M2500 won hands down and was the Editor's choice. I've looked around and now there's the M3000 and M3500. I have not myself used any of these.

I am looking to buy an ST5022D. Can anyone comment on the fan noise and heat? Thanks!

Thanks for the headset options. I have no heat problem or issues with the fan noise. I use it on my lap a great deal at night when my son and wife are in bed. Very quite in the house.

I was warned off bluetooth headsets for voice recognition by eMicrophones.com, and bought a wired USB mic instead. Their previous testing of bluetooth mics showed terrible results (for VR). There is a new post from Anonymous that says they had great results with a Logitech. eMicrophones has yet to find any that tested well, but will soon be testing a VXI (good brand) bluetooth headset. There are two separate topics with Bluetooth in the title in the top 10 or so listed. Go read for yourself:

Benjamin:

Have you heard back from Fuj. on the audio issue?

Have you come across anything you believe is an issue with this specific tablet and tablets in general vs. convertibles? Have you had any scenarios where you wished you had a keyboard?

I am looking to buy my first as well. Any feedback you may provide would be helpful. I like the slate for comfort, slimness, and weight, but am reluctant to stray away from the KB, even though one can be carried and attached.

thanks

Sorry, have not had time this week to make the Fujitsu call. Hope to email them today.

I have been using OneNote on my Fujitsu and have been loving keeping everything together in one area. No more stacks of notes on my desk. I did get the docking station but only use it for loading programs - never even hooked up a keyboard yet. So I guess I am not missing the keyboard. I find the input panel very easy to use. So far the only thing I wish for is a slimmer case or just a metal cover that would flip to the back. I feed the exe case too bulky.

I guess we need to start a new topic different from my original recording issues.

Emailed Fujitsu this morning and got a reply back. I tried this and it did help but I still have a lot of noise on playback. Let me know if it helps anyone and what I may need to change on the speaker side.

Enabling "microphone boost" should resolve your issue. Please follow
the steps below to enable "microphone boost".

1) double click the volume control in the task bar.
2) select Options.
3) select Properties.
3) place the mark beside Recording.
4) click on OK.
5) select the Options.
6) select the Advanced Controls.
7) click on the Advanced button.
8) place a check in the Microphone Boost box.

I tried this when we originally started this discussion, but got a lot of what sounded like feedback. I noticed you could adjust various sources of input and output, and wondered about trying different combinations to maximixe sensitivity of the microphone input, without causing a problem with feedback.

I would suggest making contact with Martin@emicrophones.com . He is extremely experienced with all problems regarding microphones.javascript:insertsmilie('')
