Hi, the USB CDROM shipped with my tablet recently broke and
Acer replaced it with a 1394 CDROM/DVD RW, because the original
CDROM is not available anymore. I am very happy because the 1394
drive is much better than the original, but --unfortunately-- it
seems that the BIOS is unable to boot from that drive. Therefore,
I am unable to use the recovery CDROM...

I have contacted the Acer tech support, and waiting for an answer.

Since the recovery CDs contain a Ghost image, if I could be able to
create a DOS-bootable floppy disk that can mount the 1394 CDROM, I could probably run the recovery procedure manually.

Unfortunately, I cannot find 1394 drivers on the web.
I have seen posts from some guys that have extracted the boot section from their recovery CDs shipped with newer models (eg. C110).
The right drivers are probably the ones listed in the config.sys file:

DEVICEHIGH=INI1394.SYS /BOOT=A
DEVICEHIGH=I1394CD.SYS /D:CDROM1

Please, can anyone help me?
Also, is there any alternative to recovery without using a CDROM?

thanks in advance for your help

-- Pietro
