Something that concerns me - when I visit fujitsu.com, and look for downloads for the T4010 in the support section, I get a list of software.

Now the odd part. The software is all considered "Included". Included means you should use the software that came with your tablet, rather that update it. I'm sure the T4010 isn't that old (what, 4-5 months maybe?) but shouldn't there be *SOME* software updates?

Anyone want to comment on driver updates/bug fixes? Anyone had any problems? Is fujitsu so good at packaging drivers that they don't need updates?? :D

It's interesting that you should mention this. I was at the Fujitsu website a few days ago, also looking for downloads. I noticed the same thing. Like you, the apparent lack of any "new" updates bothered me, too.

OTOH, however, I can't say that I've had any particular problems with the drivers in either of my tablets. I'm not sure what to make of this, either. I guess that technically, if I'm not having problems, I shouldn't expect to find anything new on the website...???

Steve, THANK YOU. You've proven I'm not _completely_ crazy for being worried.

I suppose it's possible everything just works really well. It's possible that because Fujitsu has tons of veritcal enterprise customers they try to minimize updates to keep things stable (because mission critical systems like warehouse inventory don't need the latest and best, they need stability).

On the other hand, I'm sure the OEM parts Fujitsu uses *must* have more recent drivers than the ones offered. Maybe I should call support and try to find a person who has a clue about the frequency of software updates.

I suppose if there are rarely any updates, but things work, that's hardly a reason to complain on my part ;D

<<It's possible ... they try to minimize updates to keep things stable (because mission critical systems like warehouse inventory don't need the latest and best, they need stability).>>

I think that this might be close to the truth.

After years of adventures with marginally-written code and updates, I've come to appreciate the value of stability. When I set up a software suite, I install the things I need (or at least think I need), debug any run-time issues and then I typically leave it alone. If a new driver pops up, I don't load it unless I'm having problems (which is very seldom!).

I update Windows and my virus checker, of course, but that's about it. And it seems to work; I don't usually encounter system or application problems...

My Tablet PCs: None... well not just yet!

No updates is great on the one hand, but on the other I understand (from other threads here) there should be one for the video drivers. According to some threads when hooked up to an external monitor the tablet mode makes the screen nuts. (On it's side or upside-down!)

Surely Fujitsu should be working to remedy that at the very least!

Releasing code that requires updates is very bad practice (all be it very common) and if it means bearing with the problem a little longer but getting a definitive update I'd be happy. I just hope it doesn't indicate a lack of effort to correct known bugs.

Guys, I'm going to give Fujitsu the benefit of the doubt for now. Not having actually used my tablet yet (should be here this week), I can't offer any personal experiences - but I haven't heard of anyone complaining about bugs (besides the screen problem which is an Intel problem if I understand correctly).

Hopefully Fujitsu is just so good at updates that they don't need to post them. When I get my tablet I'm going to check the OEM websites and see if more recent updates are available. If they are, I'll call Fujitsu support and find out why I should/shouldn't use them.

I have a ST5010.

I installed the drivers for the ST5020 (with the exception of the pen driver) where the ST5010 had the same parts (obviously, the ST5010 doesn't have biometric device, so I didn't install that) and so on.

Works fine here.

You'd have to check to see that they are indeed updated versions and not totally different parts before doing this.
