if you want to watch DVDs and play games...with some school work....get a regular laptop!...Tablets are good and I love mine but it is not for all.. If I were buying now ( I have owned both), I would buy neither. I would look for a HP TC1100 as soon as the new HP comes out, the price will drop and it will be a super deal. True it does not have the built in cd drive but I think you would find watching the cd is not something that would take the majority of time used..... The Toshiba does have better graphics but the view angle is not that great...and outside it is nearly zero view..just my opinion...
If you havent walked the trail, you can't be the guide
I did a tremendous amount of research regarding different manufactures of Tablet PC's and I choose the Averatec over them all. I want a Tablet that didn't require additional equipment to be lugged around i.e. DVD/CD-RW drive.
Yeah, I can now here the all of the doomsdayer's out there, but for the price and features you can't beat it. I could not justify spending and extra grand for the same features. And from an IT stand point I shy away from Toshiba no matter what anybody says.
Now I'm not saying that there are not some drawbacks, the case does feel a little fragile, but its still sturdy, and yes it does tend to run a little warm, but not much more than a regular laptop.
This computer is by no means a desktop replacement and IMHO should not be used as one. I'm not saying that the computer can't handle being on all day, but that it does have it's limitations as far as ability of the processor is concerned. So if you want to do video/digital editing, then I would suggest that you look elsewhere. But if all your looking for is general computing (spreadsheets word processing) along with the ability of being able to use it for note taking, then the Averatec is well suited for the job.
