Acer
Hello all and greeting from Indonesia... I just bought an used tablet PC modeled Acer c102Ti for $800, the spec i got is tablet pc with 800Mhz,256MB,20GB,WinXP Tablet edition;compaq laptop bag; and AC adapter.. I'm happy with this leap so far.. but after 2 days i just noticed something messy with this "used tablet pc", the battery only last for 30' after each charge, maybe it going to dead.. , The digitizer seem less sensitive on the edge of the screen, is it normal?.. The heat produced under the tablet seem so hot, especially when using adaptor to work for more than 1 hours (Is it normal?).. My primary question is i'm in wise decision to choose this Used Acer C100 for $800?? In my country, after long search, this is the cheapest used tablet PC on local store, there is no more warranty..
Any help would be appreciated... Thanks alot Guys!!

It sounds like the battery is on it last legs.
Could you better discribe the "less sensitivity" of the digitizer (screen)? Is it not working in certain areas? Hard to press near the edge? You will be unable to upgrade the RAM in that tablet, to me this is the worst part of the C102 series. In the USA this price is more than I would pay but countries are different in there prices.
Heat development seems to be normal. My C111 is getting extremely hot after a while. We do have snow in Germany at the moment, so this is actually a feature much appreciated.
As regards to the digitizer. The cursor is less controllable on the edge of the screen. But it shouldn't be an issue, simply something one could get used to.

Thanks for quick reply guys, less sensitivity on edge that mean i must put more weight on my click to make it clicked, it easier on the middle of screen, but still in time i will more adaptive to this condition... 30 mins of battery still useful for especially when there is charger unit, but i consider to buy a new one (Here, a spare C100 new battery priced for $150!!), is it worth to add actual use of just two hours to buy this battery?? Maybe the heat is produced highly because there is no fan at all, and the heatsink is so wide covering all of the C100's bottom .. I just too afraid that this heat will fry my Newly Used C100/My first Tablet PC

Ohh forgot, one more questions guys.. I'm planning to buy an external DVD-CDRW combo using USB, because this C100 only support USB 1.1; is it fast enough to play DVD movies with this USB 1.1 transfer rate? Can i use bootable CD with other brand than Acer external optical driver? (I read that Toshiba Tablet need Toshiba external CD drives to use bootable CDs).. Is there available PCMCIA to USB 2.0 accesories?

I wouldn't buy an Acer without a warranty. So much stuff on my TMC302 has broken. Although they did charge me $450 for repairs within warranty anyway, ****. What I mean to say is, I wouldn't buy an Acer at all! Anyway, I can't imagine how it could be hard to click near the edge-- the cursor will drift toward the edge, but clicking should be the same as long as you hold the stylus at the same angle. Try lessening the pressure settings for the wacom plugin.
If you want a dvd/cdrw drive, I'd buy one with that included (tmc302 and toshiba m200 have em, though more expensive). Or wait, if possible. When you add up the cost of the battery, dvd drive, and it possibly breaking, it may be better to get a better model. Then again, $800 isn't bad for something to tie you over until tabletpcs become affordable.

Well, $800 is the highest i can afford (My income around $250 a month) maybe for next year, i wouldn't but another TabletPC. I just hope this Baby doesn't break for a long time. I've already buy Acer ~ External USB 2.0 Slim DVD-RW for $120, it's a bargain. And watching DVD movies with included Soniq Player is flawless (But with Cyberlink PowerDVD is no-go, because the lag so bad). I'm previously using PDA, and this jump actually is a milestone for me... Well then, the only problem is battery, Acer Indonesia sell 1800mah battery for $150, what a rip off!! Maybe i'll just wait or refill my battery when it's dead..
