My Tablet PCs:

Hi guys how can I install recover console on my C303 after SP2 upgrade. I read that it suppose to use c:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons for the installation files (I directed to my original SP1 installation folder). And I got this error:

Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

So how can I install Recovery Console without resort to de-installing SP2?

Thanks

Unfortunately, that is the instruction that I followed. It won't work because my original Acer C303XMI was SP1 and I have already applied SP2 to it. Thus, the error message occurs when I try to run the original SP1 installation files in my Acer hard drive. Thank you for the instruction though.

Note: Error Message -
Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

You might need to create a slipstreamed Windows XP SP2 CD. There are instructions on how to do this in the latest issue of PC Magazine. You can also find information on the web. I did a quick Google search and came up with the following site:

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html

Once you have a slipstreamed CD, the version of the Recovery Console on the CD should match the version of Windows that is installed and you should be able to install the Recovery Console onto your hard drive.

Thanks CamperMan (Jim). I concur.
The best to you TCY. Sorry the first instructions did not work. Let us know if the slipstream solution from Jim allows you the create a Recovery Console, with SP2. Thanks!

Oh, I so cheated. I didn't follow them. I used the XP Professional Upgrade with SP2 (non-tablet version)Installation CD instead. And it worked. I will still do the slip stream SP2 Tablet CD though. It is a good idea. Thanks guy!
