It appears that the sound card on my GW M275XL may have "given up the ghost" this weekend. No sound from either the speakers or line out. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and going back to an earlier restore point to rule out software issues. Has anyone else been able to resolve a similar issue without sending the TPC in for repair?
I have had my gateway for 2 months now. I notice an intermittent high-pitch background hiss from my speakers or from earphones. It sounds like a very faint Morse-code message (my computer is trying to talk to me?). Strangely, it seems to go away when the CPU is working hard. I wonder if my soundcard is showing signs of sickness.
Then I guess it's off to GW support. Though it may be awhile until I'm able to send it (I purchased it in the US). In the meantime I'm going to try a Bluetooth headset. I'm hoping that sound via the USB BT adapter doesn't utilize the soundcard. As for the whiney kids, I don't think GW support covers that.
