Keyboard problem with TC1000 & SP2

Hi Fellow TabPC users:

I'm hoping there is a simple answer for this - and that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. It seems that ever since I installed SP2, if I disconnect the keyboard, it won't function again until I reboot with the keyboard attached. As long as I keep it attached, it works perfectly. Even re-attaching the keyobard, and then putting it to sleep and then waking up - doesn't fix the problem. Is there a simple tweak for this? I tried to search for the answer in past posts - but didn't see anything!

HP TC series Docking Station - a marvel

I never buy docking stations. Well actually, I stopped buying them in the late 90's because they are proprietary and expensive for the utility they convey.

I had one on evaluation from HP several months ago, but the loaner was broken (latches, release mechanism, etc.) so I was disappointed even though I admired the aesthetics.

When Rob Bushway sold his (here) I kicked myself for not jumping on that at the time, because the price was right, and I hesitated just a little too long.

Okay - on to the point. I picked up one used today locally (used, private deal) for less than a tank of gas. Imagine my delight when I found that it came complete with the CDR/DVD combo drive. The seller pointed it out to me when I picked it up.

This one is pristine, and everything works. All that is missing is the rubber flap thingie.

It is a marvel of engineering, a thing of beauty, and it articulates in every which way I could want, simplifying switching from landscape to portrait for reading and inking.

So to all you folks who have wondered about an HP docking station, if you can pick one up cheap (especially with the combo drive) it's probably worth exploring.

Does the keyboard cover the screen

Hi folks:

I am considering getting one of these TC models. One question that I have is whether the detachable keyboard covers the screen when attached. In my view, this would be nice because then the keyboard doubles its role as a screen protector when the tablet PC is not being used.

Any responses and/or comments are much appreciated.

Since the BIOS update my Keyboard mouse hasn't worked

Since the BIOS update in December when I attach the keyboard the pointing device does not respond at all. Not even the mouse buttons.
All the keys on the keyboard work ok. It's just the mouse.
It doesn't even move on the boot sequence so this leads me to belive it is a BIOS problem.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers and updated to the January revision of the BIOS, still with no luck. I don't use the keyboard often, but when I do I prefer to use the built in mouse - out of habbit, and prodding the already unstable contraption with the pen doesn't feel good.
I haven't used the keyboard since before december.

Is there a way to install the Updated Keyboard BIOS controller without a USB floppy?
Perhaps copy the contents of the floppy onto a bootable USB drive?

tc1100 - fan turns on when keyboard detached

Hi all,

I really like my tc1100, but the fan is really loud and annoying. I noted that the fan instantly turns off, when I attach the keyboard, and it is turned on again, when I detach it (or rotate the screen). It really does not make any sense to me. Why would be the heat generation lower, when the keyboard is attached? How can I make the fan to cease rotating and being noisy when the keyboard is not attached? Is there any utility or hack to gain control over the fan, or lower the RPM?

ps. I also have the infamous high pitched noise discussed in other threads, but the turning off USB power management workaround solved the problem temporarily...

Using DG189A with TC1100

Does anyone know if the DG189A will work with the TC1100? I think this is an early DVD RW that was created for the TC1000. It does not support the very latest standards, by I'm really looking for a DVD ROM for my docking station that also has CD burning capabilities. I might be able get this one fairly cheap, but I'd like to know if anyone with a TC1100 has experience...

This is NOT the DG189B which HP is currently advertising for the TC1100.

Using Treo 650 Bluetooth with TC1100...

Just checking, does anyone have a Treo 650 and the TC1100?

I hope to upgrade to the 650 in the near future and wanted to make sure that the bluetooth implementations were 100% compatible. I've been using PDANet with a Treo600 / TC1100 and it works fine using the link cable. But it would be great to go wireless!

Outlook - Phone Dialer & BT Ear Piece

Is is possible to configure the Tablet to use Outlook's Phone Dialer using VOIP Softphone? If so, how do you configure it?

What about a BT ear piece (Jabra 250)with the VOIP Softphone and the Tablet? Can you use the ear piece with the Tablet?
