Can anyone enlighten me before i make the plunge? Pros? Cons?
Thanks in advancehttp://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21839Weird Battery ProblemHello folks:

I am experiencing a very weird problem with my 2010 battery. It seems to charge fully to 100% (according to the power meter in control settings), and after a bit over an hour, the computer shuts off all of a sudden. I then re-plug and check the power meter and it is at 86%. I can recharge the battery and start over again, but it will not last more than this.

Any ideas? Are these batteries warranted by Electrovaya?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Fernandohttp://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21658Best tablet for use in a small aircraft?Hi,

I am new here, but haven't found a comparison table anywhere. Perhaps someone can make a suggestion.

I am after a tablet PC for use in a light aircraft, for displaying instrument approach plates and similar. Also, on the ground it wants to be usable for internet access with a PCMCIA GPRS card but this bit should be possible with just about anything.

The requirements are:

1. About 8" to 9" diagonal (the nice new Fuji ones are too big)
2. Battery life of a "few" hours
3. Decent viewing angle
4. Viewable in direct sunlight too
5. Display backlight brightness must be easily adjustable (or automatic from ambient light sensing, like e.g. the Ipaq 5450)
6. Screen res 800x600 or better.
7. PCMCIA slot.

Speed isn't important. No keyboard is required although it must be possible to display one on-screen, for very simple text entry.

I have seen the Scribbler but from the reviews the screen isn't good for this use.

Any suggestions?

http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20135Is my digitizer broken??I recently purchased an SC-300 from electrovaya on ebay.ca, (yes, electrovaya is ebaying 100-series scribblers) with a 30-day warranty--and i'm trying to determine if there's a problem with my digitizer (symptoms are described below).

i'd like to simply call them and ask for a replacement, but, as we know, electovaya service is anything but speedy, and i'd really like to avoid downtime as i've just started a new semester and am using the scribbler for *all* of my coursework..

anyhow, below are my symtoms, and other than the first symptom, which is minor, i'm thinking that these might be symptoms of some sort of general XP Tablet edition bugginess--in which case i won't risk handing my tablet back to evil electovaya--your opinions appreciated.

-near one edge of the screen, there is an invisible line-shaped region that the cursor always 'jumps' over when using the stylus, that is to say, it's almost impossible to point accurately in this small area

-sometimes one of the 'mouse buttons' being emulated by the stylus seems to get stuck, or to click repeatedly--for instance i will simply point at a button on the task bar, and the window will being flashing violently between minimized and maximized.

-'hovering' is sometimes interpreted as a click for no apparent reason--this is especially troublesome during calibration, as the crosshair gets clicked on before i'm anywhere neat the right place

-even when the hover/click problem isn't acting up, the calibration seems off--keep in mind that i've never used a tablet pc before, so maybe i'm just not used to the whole experience, but it seems rather hard to get calibration really accurate, which hurts the legibility of my handwriting...

anyway those are my symptoms--i guess i'm just hoping that someone can tell me that most of this is software trouble and that it's not the sign of worse things to come for my digitizer.

otherwise, i might see if electrovaya will let me bring the tablet there in person and do a same-day exchange, etc. (i'm in toronto, they're in missisauga), but i doubt they're going to be anywhere near so accomodating...http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20775Is there a screen cover solution?Hi folks:

I move around with my 2010 quite a bit, and am looking to see if there is a screen cover that can be easily removed and that is easy to carry around. I like the idea of the detachable keyboard that doubles up as a screen cover, but it is too much baggage for what I want.

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Fernandohttp://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21825Rugged Field Case for SC-2000 SeriesI have been talking with a case company about the possibility of creating a field case for the tablets. It would be a case that was water proof and shock proof and would have a plastic screen cover so access to the screen was still possible. The only access while the tablet is in the case would probably be one USB port, to help keep the case water tight. I'm trying to guage interest in something like this, does anyone have a job or hobby that would require something like this? I am part of a rocket project to send 1 to 2 kg to legal space so we have a large need for something like this in the field. Please respond if you are even a little interested. Estimates on cost will come when we have an approximate number of interested parties. Thank you!
http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18769electrovaya battery charger... does it exist?i wonder if there is charger for electrovaya's batteries for the scribbler series ? i couldn't find on their catalogue. it will be very convenient. instead of having to charge through the tablet pc itself.http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21700sc300 refurbished?I'm thinking of buying a refurbished SC300 (around $700). Anyone have any experience with these?

Has anyone tried to update the harddrive or memory on these units? I know that it isn't supposed to be user upgradable but for someone with some technical skills, is this possible?

Thanks.http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21630My Electrovaya Scribbler 2200 overheats when I run any email programI have an Electrovaya Scribbler 2200, and I am having a problem with it overheating every time I use AOL email or another email program (Hotmail, Roodrunner (my cable modem carrier), etc.). When I access email on the tablet, the processor in the tablet starts to run, the computer gets hot in a short time, and it works extremely slow. One time it got so hot, the computer shut itself off. It doesn't overheat when I am just surfing the net using the cable modem, only when I try to sign in to email (regardless of the email program I am using at the time). This does not happen when I'm using any of my normal software (Word, Onenote, Excel etc) either, unless of course I have email running at the same time. I'm stumped as to the origin of this problem (hardware issue, possible virus activity, etc). I am running Norton anti-virus on the tablet. If anyone can provide some insight into my problem, I would be most appreciative!

Thanks.

http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21274Office XP for Tablet PC (Questions)I was wondering about the Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC.
