My meeting with the CEO of OQO

Yesterday I met the CEO of OQO, Jory Bell. He spoke to my leadership and management course about starting up OQO and what it's like to be CEO of a high-tech startup. Very interesting stuff.

I asked him a question about OQO intends to compete against the othr UPCs, flybook, flipstart and u750. He felt that their defense against competition lied in their superior architecture and an overall better company. He also believes that their combination of the dell business model and apple's innovation (Jory has worked for both IBM and Apple) will put them ahead and keep them ahead.

After class I approached him and introduced myself. We talked about the upc platform. I asked him if he was interested in creating a thin client OQO with windows xpe and he said that it was one avenue they were looking at. I also asked him about Windows Anywhere thinking that he would be there, but he didn't even know about the conference. I'm surprised they weren't invited since the OQO is a great example of a mobile windows platform.

Overall it was really great to chat with him. He's definitely a very impressive guy. I think OQO will keep on going.

OQO and Transmeta

With the recent announcement by Transmeta, what kind of effect do we suppose it will have on the OQO? And if you do purchase one with an extended warranty, what good will that do if they can't replace the processor?

sony u70 is great

been living with it for 7days now..picked it from dynamism...work eficieny increased by 25%..doesnt it sound great...i have gone crazy from the time i have it..except for one great review havnt seen anything else on the net...i cant read jappenese so cant check there forums too..everything works like cream so dont understand and feel like changing the operating system.. though some shortfalls i feel its much better then the others expected, atleast design and usability wise...with wifi g and usb 2 it makes a lot of difference on a xp pro..
i miss
1.pcmcia slot..waiting for cf to pcmcia converter
2.microphone
3.keyboard
4.hard disc space(got a 60 gb usb disk so not a very big problem
5.no speaker connection on docking station
6.no bluetooth(with socket cf bluetooth card its sorted)

i wish...we had this with all above + a 3 megapixel camera + phone application built in....would have made a history in computing..with sony quality..u wont need anything else after that...
